WEB DEVELOPMENT

Code written by humans. Built to perform. Owned by you.

Most business websites are bloated, slow, and locked inside platforms you don't control.

The average WordPress site ships with dozens of plugins, each one adding page weight, introducing security vulnerabilities, and creating dependency chains that break on every update. Security patches get skipped. Plugins conflict. The site slows down. And somewhere in the plugin stack is a paid subscription you can't remove without breaking something.

Platform-hosted sites have a different problem: the business doesn't own the code. When a page builder platform changes its pricing, sunsets a feature, or goes under, the business has no exit strategy. Everything built inside the platform stays inside the platform. That's not a website — it's a rental arrangement.

We build on clean, purposeful codebases. Every site we deliver is yours outright — hosted wherever you choose, with full source code access, no proprietary lock-in, and no ongoing platform dependency unless you want one. The decision to use or not use a CMS is yours to make based on your needs, not on what a vendor is selling.

The technical foundation your business deserves — built right the first time.

01

Static HTML/CSS/JS builds

For most business websites, static builds are the right technical choice. No database, no server-side processing, no plugin vulnerabilities. Pages load instantly from a CDN, pass Core Web Vitals, and cost almost nothing to host. We choose static when it's the correct architecture — not because it's easier, but because it performs better for sites that don't need dynamic server-side rendering.

02

Custom CMS integrations

When your team needs to edit content without a developer, we integrate a headless CMS — a content management layer that your editors use without touching code. The front end stays fast and custom-built; the back end gives your team the editing interface they need. We recommend and configure the CMS based on your team's technical comfort level and content requirements.

03

API & third-party integrations

Modern business sites connect to external systems: CRMs, booking platforms, payment processors, email marketing tools, analytics, and more. We plan and implement these integrations at the code level — not through plugin chains that add bloat — so the connections are reliable, secure, and maintainable without a specialized vendor.

04

Performance optimization

Performance is engineered from the start, not bolted on at the end. That means: optimized images served in modern formats, critical CSS inlined, JavaScript deferred where safe, font loading controlled, and third-party scripts loaded asynchronously. We measure load performance against Core Web Vitals before every launch and fix what doesn't pass.

05

Code ownership & handoff

On delivery, you receive the complete source code in a version-controlled repository, deployment configuration, documentation for the build process, and access to all hosting accounts. Nothing stays on our servers. You can work with any developer after us. That's what ownership means — no licensing fees, no locked accounts, no hostage situations.

Common questions about web development.

We use the right tool for the project. For most business marketing sites, that means HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript — no framework overhead, no unnecessary build complexity, fast by default. For sites that need CMS editing, we use headless CMS options like Contentful, Sanity, or similar, paired with a clean front end.

For web applications that require interactivity and state management, we use modern JavaScript frameworks where they're the correct choice — not as a default for every project. We do not use WordPress as a starting point for new builds. If you have a specific technical requirement or existing infrastructure constraint, bring it up during the strategy call and we'll design to it.

No. Not for new builds. WordPress serves a specific use case — high-volume content publishing with a large editorial team — and it works well for that. It is not the right architecture for most business marketing sites, and the costs of running a secure, fast, maintained WordPress installation are consistently underestimated by businesses that adopt it as a default.

If you have an existing WordPress site you need maintained or migrated, we can discuss that as a separate scope. But we will not recommend WordPress for a new build when a simpler, faster, more maintainable architecture exists for your requirements.

You do. Full stop. The complete source code is delivered to you in a Git repository, along with deployment documentation and access to every service account created for the project. We retain no licenses, no subscriptions, and no ongoing control over anything we build.

This matters practically: you can hire any developer after us and hand them the repository. You can move hosting providers without asking us. You can modify the code without our permission. If we go out of business tomorrow — or you simply want to work with someone else — nothing about your website changes. That's what code ownership actually means.

It depends on the build. A static HTML site on a CDN has almost zero maintenance requirements — there's no software to update, no database to secure, no plugin vulnerabilities to patch. The site serves files. Files don't get hacked.

Dynamic builds with back-end systems or CMS integrations require periodic maintenance. We can scope a retainer for ongoing maintenance, or hand off full documentation so your internal team or another developer handles it. We build for maintainability from the start — clear code, documented dependencies, no clever tricks that require our knowledge to debug.

A straightforward business marketing site — design approved and content ready — typically takes 3 to 5 weeks to build, QA, and launch. Projects with custom functionality, complex integrations, or large page counts take longer. We scope timelines project-by-project after understanding the full requirements.

The biggest variable is client readiness. Projects where the client has final copy, finalized design approvals, and is available to review and give feedback promptly move on the fast end. Projects where content is being written during development or where review cycles run long take more time. We communicate timeline status throughout and flag delays early so nothing is a surprise at launch.
